| Qualifications/Job Description
The Department of Consumer Sciences seeks a chair who will lead faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders to new levels of scholarly/research excellence while embracing a consumer perspective as an organizing framework. The chair also will guide the development of innovative approaches for preparing students for productive careers in the three areas of study in the department: Consumer and Family Financial Services, Fashion and Retail Studies, and Hospitality Management. We see a candidate who possess the following required qualifications: · Ph.D. degree in one of the Department’s academic disciplines or a related area; · Evidence of scholarly achievement sufficient for tenure at the rank of Professor in one of the disciplines represented in the department; · Experience as a Chair or other significant academic unit leadership position with responsibilities encompassing fiscal management; · Demonstrated commitment to diversity; and · Evidence of ability to generate extra-mural funding. · Record of mentoring and providing support for faculty and staff development; · Evidence of ability to build and sustain strong relationships with industry stakeholders; · Experience leading and working in interdisciplinary, inter-institutional and/or international collaborations; · Demonstrated commitment to outreach/engagement; and · Experience with distance education and e-learning.
