AMS Annual Conferences
AMS conferences are known for a unique, friendly atmosphere. The Annual Conference is generally held during either late May or early June. Features of the annual conference include refereed paper sessions, research-in-progress sessions, panels, workshops, and other special invited sessions. At the annual banquet the Fellows of the Academy present a number of awards including selecting a practitioner as Distinguished Marketer of the Year and a scholar as the Outstanding Marketing Educator. We also present outstanding teaching awards to multiple marketing faculty, who are selected by a specially appointed panel. Additional features of the conference include various receptions and banquets, publisher’s exhibits, and proceedings available at the time of the meeting.
AMS World Marketing Congress
The Academy of Marketing Science has been conducting World Marketing Congresses since 1983 at locations across the globe. Scholars from many nations attend to present their research findings and theoretical views and participate in special sessions. Further, there are opportunities to meet and connect with new colleagues from around the world. A cultural dimension is always part of the congress allowing attendees to experience some of the history and traditions of the nation in which the event is held. Often a “Global Marketer” is recognized by The Academy at the congress. The 17th AMS WMC was held in the summer of 2014. The congress is now an annual event. A formal process involving detailed proposals is used to select the host university/school and location of the event.
Special AMS ConferencesOccasionally in the past conferences on special topics including retailing, cross-cultural marketing, cultural perspectives in marketing, quality of life and history of marketing thought, have been organized by AMS.
