Continuing its tradition of commitment to marketing doctoral education, the Academy of Marketing Science proudly announces the 3rd Annual AMS Doctoral Consortium, which will be held in conjunction with the AMS Annual Conference this May at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, CA. Doctoral students worldwide who are completing or have completed at least three years of their program and will be ABD [all but dissertation] status by the time he/she is attending consortium are eligible for nomination. Students must be nominated by their dissertation chair or major professor (see link to application form below). NOTE: Only one student per university can be nominated.
CONFERENCE AND CONSORTIUM SCHEDULE: The AMS Doctoral Consortium kicks off on Thursday evening, May 25th, in conjunction with the AMS conference reception scheduled for that evening. The program content will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 26th with the 4th Annual Theory Forum, sponsored by AMS Review and chaired by Manjit Yadav, and concludes mid afternoon on Saturday, May 27th. In addition to presentations by prominent marketing faculty, the Theory Forum will include presentations of the top proposals of the AMS Review Doctoral Competition for Conceptual Articles, in which consortium nominees are encouraged to participate. (More information about the AMS Review Doctoral Competition can be found here.) Friday afternoon and Saturday morning will consist of multiple interactive sessions between distinguished faculty and students.
REGISTRATION COSTS: The cost for students to register for the doctoral consortium is $235 for Early-Bird Registration, $335 for registration after the early bird deadline (April 1), and $400 for on-site registration. Doctoral consortium registration also includes registration for the AMS Annual Conference, as well as continental breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday. Doctoral consortium attendees must be AMS members.
DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM: The Doctoral Consortium gives ABD students the opportunity to interact with eminent scholars across the various subfields of marketing. These scholars will facilitate interactive sessions focused on enhancing students’ research with the goal of preparing them for a career as a scholar. Due to a limit on the number of attendees, students will enjoy a small-group atmosphere in the sessions and also will have ample opportunities for one-on-one time to interact with the facilitating faculty.
NOMINATION PROCESS: In order to achieve the intended concentrated faculty/student interaction, attendees will be chosen on a competitive basis. Nominated students need to complete an application that can be found here. Then, please send the following materials to Linda.Ferrell@Belmont.edu (note in the subject line “AMS Doctoral Consortium Application”):
1. Letter of support from your dissertation chair or major professor
2. Completed application
