Although the marketing discipline continues to make progress on multiple fronts, there has been growing concern in recent years about the lack of emphasis on conceptual/theoretical contributions. This is detrimental to long-term knowledge development in our field and significantly diminishes its impact and influence. The proposed initiative addresses this issue. Its overarching objective is to help advance theory development in the marketing discipline. Given the significant role played by doctoral students in a discipline, the initiative will be launched with a Doctoral Competition for Conceptual Articles that will be organized annually by AMS Review (AMSR).
The 19th Academy of Marketing Science World Marketing Congress took place July 19-23 at IESEG School of Management’s Paris campus. 450 participants attended many of the more than 100 sessions covering the latest research topics including leveraging big data for marketing success, relationship quality in a high tech but not always high touch era and the latest in research publication ethics. Check back soon or see Facebook for photos of the gala dinner which took place on the Yacht de Paris as it cruised on the Seine through the heart of Paris. Olivier Dexemple, Head of Marketing for Coca-Cola France, was named 2016 AMS Global Marketer of the Year. Click HERE for a short bio about Olivier Dexemple. His address discussed how real-world brand management may be better referred to as "crazy-world" marketing and how managing brands like Capri-Sun, even though smaller than Coke, bring many challenges and pride in success. A big thanks to our team at IESEG and to our program chairs, Catherine Demongeot, Jean-Luc Herrmann and David J. Ortinau, for making this event possible. See the photo gallery for memories!
