A Message from President O.C. Ferrell
The Academy of Marketing Science is pleased to announce that Stephen Vargo has been appointed the next editor of AMS Review. He is the Shidler Distinguished Professor and Professor of Marketing at Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa since 2005. His term will start June 1st, 2019. Steve has over 100 publications and has received numerous awards for his contributions. He has excelled in publishing conceptual articles that have made a high impact on the discipline. Steve believes that AMS Review can and should become the premier facilitator and outlet for theory development in marketing. I have utmost confidence that AMS Review will continue to advance under his editorship.
Over the last six years, Manjit Yadav has positioned the journal as the premier conceptual journal in marketing. The journal is making an important contribution to knowledge development in marketing. Manjit’s goal has been to develop AMS Review into a world-class journal. He has created several initiatives to help reach that goal, including a series of articles from award-winning authors, the AMS Review Theory Forum, and the AMS Review/Sheth Foundation Doctoral Competition for Conceptual Articles. A new section called Theory and Practice, with Bernie Jaworski as section editor, looks at how theory development relates to cutting-edge issues emerging from practice. Under Manjit’s leadership, AMS Review has become critically important to marketing.
I invite you to join us at our two upcoming conferences. The AMS Annual Conference will take place in Vancouver, Canada, May 29th-31st with Altaf Merchant and Jeannette Mena as program chairs. This year’s AMS World Marketing Congress will be in Edinburgh, Scotland, July 9-12, 2019. Tina Harrison and Mary Brennan are the co-chairs of this conference. Both Vancouver and Edinburgh are destination locations that offer the opportunity for intellectual and cultural engagements
