AMS 2026 Annual Conference - Know Before You Go

 

We’re excited to welcome you to the AMS 2026 Annual Conference in Savannah! This Know Before You Go guide is designed to help you feel prepared and make the most of your time—both inside and outside the conference sessions. Other than the hotel, none of the businesses listed are endorsed by AMS and are provided for informational purposes only.

The hotel is located directly on River Street in Savannah’s Historic District and is within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and many of the city’s most-loved attractions.

Transportation from the Airport

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) is approximately 10 miles (20–25 minutes) from the Hyatt Regency Savannah. The hotel does not provide an airport shuttle, but travelers have several convenient options:

·         Uber/Lyft and taxi services

·         Rental cars (available at the airport)

·         Private car services (advance booking recommended).

·         A search online revealed several that serve Savannah, but we do not endorse any specific service

To access the conference app:

1.       Download the “AMS – Events” app from the App Store or Google Play

2.       Log in using your AMS MemberClicks credentials (a one‑time access code will be sent)

Hotel maps, session details, and real‑time updates will be available in the app. Final room assignments will be confirmed closer to the conference.

Getting Around Savannah

·         Savannah is a very walkable city, especially within the Historic District. In addition to taking rideshares and taxis, here are some additional options. These services are complimentary and ADA‑accessible.

Free transportation options

·         DOT Express Shuttle – A free shuttle serving River Street, City Market, and Forsyth Park

·         Savannah Belles Ferry – A free ferry across the Savannah River between River Street and Hutchinson Island

Paid options

·         Old Town Trolley Tours- This hop-on-hop-off trolley has 1 and 2-day ticket options. You can see the city and even use it as a means of transportation. While on the trolley, the driver provides a guided tour.

Explore Savannah

If you have extra time before or after sessions, Savannah offers plenty to explore—from historic charm to coastal culture. If you added extra days to your trip, book some of the available tours. The Official Savannah Guide provides information about the city from its founding through the present day. This is a great resource for planning your visit.

Tickets and Tours

Tickets are available through many providers, including Viator and TripAdvisor. If you’re looking for a one-day or multi-day pass, TourPass offers a bundled option that includes a range of activities, museums, and tours, with advertised savings of up to 40%. Savannah Gray Line offers tours and excursion packages.  Popular activities and places to visit include:

·                  Port boat tours

·                  Ghost tours

·                  Forsyth Park and Bonaventure Cemetery, both featured in the 1997 film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Savannah’s food scene is one of its highlights, with many great options just steps from the hotel.

·         Moss + Oak Savannah Eatery – Located inside the Hyatt Regency Savannah; serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • Vic’s On the River –  serves lunch and dinner in a popular riverfront setting.

  • River House Seafood – on River Street; serves lunch and dinner with waterfront views.

  • Chart House Savannah – Waterfront seafood and steaks; serves lunch and dinner.

  • The Olde Pink House –  a signature Savannah restaurant; serves lunch and dinner.

  • Huey’s on the River – Casual New Orleans–style dining on River Street; serves brunch and dinner.

  • Garibaldi Savannah – Historic District option is best for dinner.

Slightly Farther Walk

  • The Fitzroy – Stylish Historic District restaurant serving lunch and dinner.

  • Treylor Park – Casual, creative spot for lunch and dinner.

  • Alligator Soul – Well-known Savannah option for dinner.

  • Leopold’s Ice Cream – A classic Savannah dessert stop on Broughton Street.

  • The Pirate House- historical restaurant where Robert Louis Stevenson visited and was inspired to write Treasure Island; serves lunch and dinner.

Night Life

If you are looking for some nightlife or just a place to have a quiet drink with friends, Savannah has plenty of options. Visit https://paigemindsthegap.com/savannah-bars/ for a more detailed description of the local nightlife. Here are some places to visit near the hotel.

  • 208 Wine Bar – Cozy wine bar near the hotel in the Historic District. The owner, Christine, is creating a special wine flight available during the conference and will have a discount flyer for attendees.

  • Rocks on the Roof – Rooftop bar with river views and cocktails.

  • Alley Cat Lounge – Hidden-style cocktail bar known for craft drinks.

  • Myrtle & Rose Rooftop Bar – Rooftop garden bar in the Plant Riverside District.

  • Wet Willie’s – Casual River Street bar known for frozen drinks. Savannah Smiles Dueling Pianos – Lively piano bar with audience-driven entertainment.
